First view of this section since the last update; this takes about a minute and will appear here on its own.
Each team’s wins, shared out among the players who produced them, so a team’s win shares add up to its win total. Wins are first split between offense and defense by how far the team’s points scored and allowed sit from a replacement-level team; offense is then credited by points produced above a replacement player (passing, rushing and receiving, weighted by play-by-play value measured in college football), defense by tackles, TFLs, sacks, interceptions and forced fumbles. Linemen and kickers are not credited: box scores don’t measure them.
Average Game Score (see the Box Score pages for how one game is scored) across every current-season game on file, minimum 6 games played. The minimum adjusts through the season — 65% of this pool’s own average games played, rounded, frozen once that average reaches 9.5 — so it stays fair early in the season and doesn’t drift up forever as playoff teams keep adding games late. Southern Section = the ranked CIF-SS team list.
Game Score: one number for how good a player's game was, computed straight from that game's box-score line (50 = an ordinary game). Weights: pass yd 0.04/TD 4/INT -3, rush & rec yd 0.10/TD 6, tackle 1/TFL +2/sack 3/PD 2/forced fumble 6/INT 6 -- adjustable v1 constants, not an opponent-curved rating (see Unit Index for that). No fumbles-lost penalty (not tracked) and no special-teams credit (no data on file).
